  • Worst Peter Parker of all time

This rendition of Peter Parker is the most pathetic version of Spider-Man that I have ever seen. I actually call this version Spider-Boy. I’ve read hundreds of Spider-Man comics, this is insulting. He has no sense of responsibility, which is very important to the character in the comics. Uncle Ben’s death lead to Peter growing up a lot. He had to contribute to the household income. He was very intelligent, knew how to make very high tech gear, without the support of Tony Stark. And he was very poor in the comics too but he worked for his money. There’s also this thing called Spider-Sense that Peter has in the comics, but I guess Jon Watts forgot about that superpower. Instead he just gave him an AI. Peter actively tries to stop criminals and supervillains in the comics. Yes he fails at times, but he isn’t legitimately stupid. He learns from his mistakes, and doesn’t try to rely on others unless he absolutely needs to, and even then it’s hard for him to do that. This version has been a vigilante for at least 6 months by the end of Captain America: Civil War. So he has probably been a vigilante even longer than that by the time this movie starts. He has no drive other than wanting to be an Avenger, only because he wants to be cool. Peter doesn’t care about that in the comics after he realized that when he was selfish, it lead to someone innocent (Uncle Ben) being killed because he was too proud to inconvenience himself to stop the thief on his own. He thinks Tony Stark is the coolest guy ever, when in the comics, he finds out that he isn’t what everyone thinks he is. Spider-Boy still idolizes him, even though Tony completely screwed over Adrian Toomes and his co-workers, just to make a quick buck. If this movie did anything well, it definitely told a great villain story (Michael Keaton is amazing), and definitely made me lose a lot more respect for Tony Stark. If you want to experience a true version of what Spider-Man (Peter Parker) is really like without reading the comics, then play the PS4 Spider-Man game. It told its own story, but still gave all the characters the depth that they have in the comics, especially Peter Parker. I almost cried at the end of that game, but wanted to walk out of this movie many times when I saw in the theater.
