Award-winning actress Frances McDormand (Fargo) delivers a stunningly powerful performance in this darkly comic drama that has been hailed as one of the year’s best films. A murdered girl’s defiant mother (McDormand) boldly paints three local signs with a controversial message, igniting a furious battle with a volatile cop (Sam Rockwell) and the town’s revered chief of police (Woody Harrelson.)

But ignore that. The film has a very dry wit that is still able to draw you into the story. I was very apprehensive going into this on what to expect and was very surprised by everyone’s performance in it. If you sat through “Fargo” or “Wilson” and liked them, this is better, in my opinion. I hope you give it a chance and like it too.

One of the worst movies I’ve seen. Don’t waste your time. Nothing special about this film at all.

  • Awful

Only reason this movie won anything is it’s liberal undertones. Super boring.

  • Shallow and ridiculous

This was a terrible movie, beyond the scenery, there was nothing going for it. I wanted to like Woody Harrelson, but I could not. Every step of the way, each character did insane things...abrubtly adjust to fit into a silly plot. Skip this movie....nevermind the tomatoes.

The story of a mother in search of a rapist and murderer of her daughter hacks an entire town to its core. There is nothing pretty or ornamented just well directed, excellent cast, camera, script and all the hundreds of people crocheting this beautiful story of harm and humanity. Like a chess game, each play, a step forward to the end or not. Well played. Thank you.
