  • Giant Oprah is your clue...

    By BreeInGilbertAZ
I should have known with a Giant Oprah that this movie would be a giant belly flop. It was - deservedly. Disney lost half a billion each on this & Solo. This led to some executive shakeups - deservedly. Friends with two Diz execs, I went into both with extremely low expectations - I guess I didn’t go low enough. Nothing like the book. Awful casting. Horrific direction. Terrific effects. Piss-poor cinematography. Putrid scripting. Maybe in a coma or high on psychedelic drugs, this might be an ok movie. Of course, I’m being facetious as I don’t do drugs (and you shouldn’t either), nor do apparently, the vast majority of critics and moviegoers, either. Thankfully. Whoever greenlighted this project must have been both in a coma and drugged to give this a go. Too bad there’s not a ZERO star option. WORST DISNEY FILM EVER MADE - PERIOD. 🚫 Avoid. You’ve been warned. ⚠️

  • Amazing movie.....

I love this movie and I begged my mom to rent this movie. Plus this movie is very interesting. My brother refused to see this movie but my mom forced him to watch it at the movie theater. After that he liked that movie.

  • Uninspiring / Fell Short of Expectations

This movie had the potential to be fabulous, and I feel all the creative energy went into the special effects (which ended up not being very convincing). Despite all this, still a wonderful box office achievement for DuVerney.
  • Excellent film by Ava DuVernay

Director Ava DuVernay has been telling since day one that this film is for kids from 8-12 years old. So the many kids I’ve asked loved the film. I am an adult and I loved the book and this film. From the very first image to the last ending credit.Superb acting, stunning visuals and an amazing message to girls, boys, and everyone.
  • Great message

All you haters of Oprah need to look past it and realize that the message of this movie is what’s missing today. Hopefully you get it someday.
  • Just... Wow (In A Bad Way)

Diverse cast was a great idea hopefully signals a long overdue trend in Hollywood. In particular, The actor playing Meg was excellent. Unfortunately, the movie itself was vapid, predictable, and hollow; and retained nothing of the book’s magic. The only casting error was the inclusion of Oprah. When she finally appeared, she was 40 feet tall (possibly in her contract?) and she spoke like she was narrating a nature documentary. She’s an intelligent and powerful force in American culture but she absolutely cannot act her way out of a paper bag.
