  • Seies is interesting but needs a second voice that's objectionable .

Well produced and well shot, this series has a charecter and likability even if your forced to watch several takes of Anthony just scarfing down food you'll never get your hands on (some for the best...like crab brains and gut juice..WTH) as he seems to pretty much swoon over every dish. He's got charisma and shows parts of cultures that you don't see in many other shows. But here is the 'however ' part. Anthony praises artists and authors from some regions who are , well.. even murderers, but they still seem to retain some nostalgic or artistic bone in the hosts memories or fascinations. From 'reach arounds to bondage' Anthony seems hopelessly intrigued by the perverted and, less occasionally, criminal mindsets of his material and without a contrary voice often becomes a rant in boyish curiosity than a light in any given dark environment he juts himself into. It's ok for 'exposure', but keeping in mind there are no filters or anchors beyond the hosts own 'political' concerns or leanings.

I really love Anthony Bourdain and this show, but I'm not as impressed with this season as the previous ones.

Watched the Shanghai episode right before departing. Made my trip that much better. One of the greatest episodes of all. Tried the long legged noodles on the last night. Gave the owners a Bourdain shoutout and they were so excited (Down the alleyway of 166 Zhaozhou Lu, near Ji’nan Lu. 肇周路166弄弄堂里近济南路。Hours: 9:30pm-1:30am).

Wow. Just wow. Feels like I just read a thousand page novel. Or walked the met museum of art in 1 hour. I will be watching more of Anthony starting with se1 ep1. A top quality show...now I see why cnn is allianced with this guy. He is not an ordinary boring cooking show host. Thanks for the se4 ep1 hopefully his other episodes are just as deep and intelligent and entertaining.
